GEEK TOOLS
This is just a bunch of technical tools that I think many network and computer
professionals may find useful. Mostly they are simple Windows 2000 tools; this
is in no way meant to be a comprehensive or high-end list of tools (espescially
not the security tools), but rather a set of quick and easy things that can
be used on your system and your network.

- Allows you to run Perl under Win2k
- Winpcap - A sniffer library
used by many programs
- Cygwin - Allows you to use a Windows installation like a *NIX machine (apps must be recompiled, but it comes with gcc)

- A nice graphical representation of drive space usage
- TFTPD32
- Primarily a TFTP server but also does DHCP & Syslog
- CDex - An excellent
CD track ripper
- Metapad - A text
editor that handles UNIX-style carriage returns and can handle large
files, yet is almost as simple as Notepad
- Crimson Editor - Very
good at formatting and keeping line numbers, has format templates
available for most scripting/programming languages and many configuration
files

Term - An excellent VT100 & Telnet terminal
- PuTTY - An SSH & Telnet client
- Packet Sniffers
- Ethereal (uses winpcap)
- Very good translation of frame details into understandable explanations
- Ettercap (uses winpcap)
- Can do ARP spoofing to bypass control of traffic by switches

- Belarc Advisor - Gives you all the details you could ever possibly want on your PC, including keys and hardware serial numbers.
