G.I. Joe: Resolute on tomorrow night

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Cartoon Network is reviving G.I. Joe with a show that has the classic crew.  I skipped Sigma Six, but I will give this one a go.  Not a fan of the art style, though.

You can catch it online already here (Edit: Adult Swim seems to have taken it down, but you can still find it on youtube).

I honestly won’t have anything to say about this until I have time to see it.

Do they know it’s Christmastime at all?

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Probably the Christian ones do.

There won’t be any snow this Christmas in Africa. You see, it’s in the Southern Hemisphere.

Snarkiness aside, look at that cast of folks. Amazing!

Classic TV on Hulu

Friday, October 17th, 2008

I’m sure many of you know the web-based streaming TV series that is Hulu, but if you haven’t checked it out in a while, there’s some great shows on there:

Sorry, no Automan or Manimal.   Believe me, I’m as saddened by this as you are.

Late edit: Oh my god!  ALF! and Welcome Back, Kotter!

What’s scarier than Chicken McNuggets?

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Well, they aren’t really scary at all. More adorable than anything else. I remember having the toys for these guys.

Mind you, actual Chicken McNuggets are never quite so pleasantly uniform looking, but the trick is to dunk them in enough sauce that you can’t really think about the fact that you are eating the chicken equivalent of particleboard.

New Knight Rider show

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

It’s on tonight. I’m not justifying this with a link or a viewing or a picture.

I’m just sad.

I’m hankerin’ fer a hunk a’ cheese!

The name “Time for Timer” may not ring a lot of bells these days, but I’m sure anyone who grew up with it will have their memory jogged by a few classic PSAs:

Clearly the western one is the best, but they are all pretty classic. Ant they also cover for parents who are too lazy to supply their kids with breakfast, too:

They just don’t put the time and effort into PSAs that they used to. I don’t have much else to say, so I’ll let Timer speak for himself.

Robots sure love Maxell disks!

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

I’ve had these robots on the brain a lot recently, and for no good reason. It seems that during the 80s, aside from making tapes that blew us away, Maxell also specialized in making 5.25″ floppies that were apparently the robot equivalent of caviar.

Dinner is served.

Dinner is served.

Ah, to be back in the days when 360 kilobytes was a lot of data! I guess those robots aren’t very bright. At least they are cuter than that freakish she-bot from Small Wonder.

Live, damn you!

Live, damn you!

I remember these ads being all over the place, but maybe I was exposed to a lot more home computing magazines than most people. I can barely find any now (but a nice big version of this second pic can be found here). What happened to this campaign?

The War Without

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Just so you guys don’t end up thinking Japan is all bad, here’s a fan animation that isn’t creepy and horrible. Well, except for Starscream’s little accident. That raises a lot of questions.

Some things are just wrong, man!

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

I can’t embed this video, and it’s probably a good thing. It’s a parody of the 80s Transformers. And some terrible, terrible Japanese show. Don’t watch this where anyone you know will see you, because you will never, ever live down the shame.

(Apparently this is a recreation of this horrible cartoon opening.)

It’s a Knight Rider themed GPS. I can’t tell if I’m horrified or delighted.
