…and it was every bit as horrible as I remember. I should at least thank Target for that trip down memory lane. I’ve never understood “chocolate” cereals. Cocoa Puffs? Cocoa Krispies? Keep ‘em!

Man, I forgot how good the Gremlins Cereal ad was. Too bad I couldn’t find a better version of the clip:
Yeah, same sweetened corn-crunch crap as every other cereal at that time. You know, I never even saw Gremlins 2? I may be better off for it.
I know I already did Pac-man cereal before, but I like this ad (which I don’t remember seeing before). It’s not that there isn’t a certain charm to dancing 80s kids with a horrible Pac-man dance song, but at least this is cute:
They stopped trying completely once they got Ms. Pac-man in there. They knew she would sell the cereal all by herself. Although at least they made a new commercial for her and didn’t just recycle the audio from the one above.
I could go on all day with Pac-man cereal ads, but not only there are a thousand different mild variations on the Pac-man video games, but there are cereal versions for them, too. Not that I have anything against Super Pac-man, but I can’t just make this the Pac-man cereal blog.
Yeah, I think I could have easily made a better ad than this. What did they do to the Ghostbusters theme song? Hopefully that’s it for me finding stupid 80s cereal ads for a while, but I wouldn’t count on it.
So this recent Cracked article linked to a an ad for a cereal I had long forgotten: Nerds! That’s right, they even come with a box of Nerds candy, so get your mom to buy some today. You know. For the candy!
But that only serves as a reminder for another cereal that should not be a cereal. One which also has two “different” flavors in one box. Yep, Nintendo. It’s for breakfast now.
And of course, from even earlier we have Pac-man, who invaded every possible niche in the merchandising ecosystem. Check out those clothes! Check out those dance moves!
Oh man. This stuff was awful, but I loved it anyways!
Please note that kid was completely caught by the Cobra guard. If that hadn’t been a training exercise, he never would have made it to that cereal!
